I’ve been many places in the past sixteen years: Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Paris, London, Toronto, and Ontario. I suppose one could say that I have been overcome with “wanderlust” from a very young age. I always had to travel, but I always loved it. Traveling is fun if you do it with the right people and the right music. As I’ve grown older, I’ve gotten to experience traveling outside of the country, and my wanderlust has not died down at all. Sometimes, the only reason I’m able to smile in the morning is because of all of the places I know I’ll go to.
I’ve dreamed of Italy from a young age. I’m a big fan of pasta, and I just know it’s a beautiful place. Verona, Venice, Rome, and Florence are the main cities I would like to visit. I would like to ride a gondola down the streets of Venice, and visit the Colosseum in Rome. It would be a dream to travel to Verona and get to “be Juliet for a day” where I would respond to some of the older letters sent to Juliet. Someday, I would even like to volunteer for the Juliet Club (and, as a result, spend a few weeks in Verona). For a while now, I’ve hoped to go to the United Kingdom. I’ve already been to England, but I really want to visit Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Out of the three countries I haven’t visited, the one I most want to visit is Wales. I want to climb up Cadair Idris and look down at all of the beautiful green meadows. In Scotland, I want to see Loch Ness and possibly look for Nessie. And in Ireland, I want to look at all of the different colored doors. I’m told that they’re all painted different, bright colors, like blues and reds and yellows. I can just imagine how enchanting it will all be. I also would love to go to Russia. I want to try the food, and hear people speak the language. I want to see the tall spires of buildings painted in bright colors that remind me of candy. I want to go to China and see the Great Wall of China. I’d also like to see the trees with the pretty flowers, that I don’t know the name of, like the one in Mulan. I want to go to Australia and see the Sydney Opera House, and maybe the dentist’s office that they have in Finding Nemo because I think that it exists. I want to go to Cameroon in Africa to watch the Western Lowland Gorilla in its natural habitat, and try to figure out a way to save it from going extinct. I want to go to Greenland because I think that unicorns live there secretly. I want to go to Spain just because. I want to go to Argentina, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Uruguay, and Brazil. I want to go to all of these places to prove that I can. I want to go to these places to feel alive and happy and free. I want to go to these places because my secret dream is that I want to travel the world. And I believe that I can, and I believe that I will. As Dr. Seuss said, “You’re off to great places. Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!” |
